Busy Spring
Here’s a short hike, returning to the East Fork Trail in South Carolina.
It’s kind of amazing how the spring, although it’s one of the best times to go hiking, can leave one with so little time to do so. Between the weather, social obligations, and illness, it’s been a struggle to find time to get myself out into the wild. As a result, my posts have been few and far between.
For today, I have a return to the East Fork Trail, part of the Foothills Trail in SC. This trail, detailed in an earlier post, travels along the East Fork of the Chattooga River, which forms the border between Georgia and South Carolina. The trailhead at the Walhalla Fish Hatchery, is about 20 miles north of Walhalla itself. The trail is 2.5 miles one-way, but due to time constraints, I wasn’t able to go the whole way, and had to be satisfied with almost 2 miles in, at a series of rapids in the waterway.
But, it was still a good hike, and I got some passable images. It also helped prove to me that after Falls Creek, my knee had recovered fairly well, even though the East Fork Trail isn’t the most strenuous. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get back on a more regular schedule of hikes, and I’ve got two hikes still to process and post for the spring.
