  I’ve been to Vogel State Park before, and it’s in one of my most favorite places, the North Georgia mountains. This time, I took the Bear Hair Gap Trail.

  Table Rock is a hike that certainly got my blood pumping but the views along the way and at the top are more than worth the effort.

• 

  Sometimes it’s great to have the entire trail to oneself, to enjoy the silence (or at least the non-human sounds). But, sometimes, it’s kind of interesting to meet people along the trail. That’s what happened as I took the Slaughter Creek Trail, in north Georgia.

  Fantastic place, Portland; I got a chance to visit during the fall to visit family and explore the parks in the area.

  Good hike for wildflowers and fungi, but the falls weren’t the best I’ve seen because of low water.

• 

  I adore autumn, and this short hike on the Appalachian Trail was an excellent way to enjoy the approach of this outstanding season.

  Anna Ruby Falls is a short but very pretty walk in Unicoi State Park in north Georgia.

  Finding Long Creek Falls required me to take a chance on what I thought might be the road to the trailhead, but wasn’t obvious. Luckily, I found the way and had the opportunity to experience this outstanding waterfall.

• 

  So, this past weekend, I went back to Oconee State Park, in South Carolina. The Old Waterwheel Trail leads to the remains of a waterwheel used to pump water.

  Brissy Ridge is part of the network of trails scattered throughout Paris Mountain State Park and I visited the area during the summer.
